Start low enough to observe the room

Use a hygrometer away from the outlet and inspect nearby surfaces. Increasing visible mist because it looks weak can wet a shelf without improving humidity where people sit. Change one setting at a time and compare conditions after the room has had time to respond.

Room size is only part of the job. Door position, ventilation and heating affect how much moisture remains indoors. An advertised coverage figure does not account for every combination.

Include the water and placement trade-off

Higher output usually uses the available water faster. Record your own refill frequency at the setting that works. Do not compare one model’s maximum-output result with another’s minimum-output runtime.

Ultrasonic mist can carry minerals from the water onto surfaces. Follow the water guidance and cleaning instructions for the actual unit. Filter-free operation does not mean that all tap water behaves identically or that the appliance purifies indoor air.
