The model-number map

The label disagreement is real. Public certification records use measured capacities, while retailers often round or preserve a marketing class. The public ENERGY STAR qualifying list keeps the exact model rows separate. That is why TDDP2213ES2C can appear on a “20 Pint” page while its certified water-removal value is 22.04 pints per day.

This table does not rank drying performance. Certification capacity is a controlled-test result, not a promise for a particular basement, bedroom, temperature, door pattern, or moisture source. The Frigidaire 22-pint model and bucket map applies the same exact-suffix test to FFAD and FHDD units and adds the manual bucket burden that a capacity-only comparison misses.

What the manuals support

The TDDP2012ES2 family manual and TDDP2013ES2 family manual describe the same ownership framework:

• a removable bucket with bucket-full indication and automatic shutoff;
• a rear continuous-drain outlet using a gravity-fed hose route;
• a washable air filter;
• automatic defrost and a three-minute compressor restart delay;

Gravity drain is not a pump

For the verified small-capacity branch, plan around a downward gravity route. The manuals describe attaching a hose to the rear outlet, keeping it secure, avoiding kinks, and directing it to a lower suitable drain. The Home Depot Canada identity page for TDDP2213ES2C explicitly lists no built-in pump and no included drain hose.

“Continuous drain” therefore does not mean “built-in pump.” Gravity drainage stops being convenient when the destination is higher than the appliance, the hose crosses a walkway, or the route cannot maintain a steady downward slope.

If gravity drainage is impossible, compare a verified pump model rather than assuming a similarly styled Toshiba includes one. If bucket use is acceptable, confirm that the bucket, float, and drain cap are present; a missing part can prevent normal operation or create leaks.

Capacity is not a room-size promise

The retained ENERGY STAR record for TDDP2213ES2C reports 22.04 pints per day and an integrated energy factor of 1.70 L/kWh. That records certification under the applicable test procedure. It does not prove a universal 1,500-square-foot result.

Actual water load changes with temperature, outdoor air leakage, doors, showers, laundry, drying materials, groundwater, and whether several closed rooms are expected to share one appliance. The manuals also warn that performance can fall as coils frost at lower temperatures. Choose from a measured humidity problem and a workable drain plan; do not turn a coverage headline into a guarantee.

1. Photograph the rear label. Record the whole TDDP code, voltage, certification marks, and serial information. Reject cropped or unreadable labels.
